BBB Institute, BBBs Expand Information to Military Families for Military Consumer Month

The BBB Institute for Marketplace Trust (BBB Institute) and the BBB Military & Veterans Initiative has been extremely active spreading financial readiness content for Military Consumer Month. On July 25, BBB Institute released the Military Consumers & Marketplace Trust report, which was made possible thanks to a partnership with the Association of Military Banks of America. The announcement was read by over a thousand unique visitors, and there were over 80 local pick-ups in city and regional newspapers, blogs, and wire services promoting the report’s findings. Many of these articles focused on the increased likelihood for higher financial loss by military consumers, as well as the number one riskiest scam for military consumers: employment scams. USA Today also wrote an article featuring findings from the report and how military consumers can spot employments scams. In addition, we released a podcast this week to share the findings of the report, highlight the unique protections and resources available to military consumers, and encourage military consumers to research on BBB.org before making purchasing decisions.
In addition, at least 50 BBB offices, including BBB Institute and the International Association of Better Business Bureaus, participated in Military Consumer Month on social media. This included content from the official Military Consumer Month social media toolkit provided by the Department of Defense’s Office of Financial Readiness and the Federal Trade Commission, as well as content about the Military Consumers & Marketplace Trust report, BBB.org/Military and BBB Military Line®. In total, hundreds of posts were shared on Twitter and Facebook to nearly 400,000 followers.
BBB Institute is proud to participate in this annual campaign to support military families and veterans and to share meaningful content for military consumers throughout the year.
